This magnificent property is located west of the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is one of the most famous parks in Africa and is synonymous with wildlife and classic African scenery. It is Tanzania's oldest park and a Unesco World Heritage Site. This tented camp is located at Ikoma, just beyond the actual boundaries of Serengeti National Park in the very center of Serengeti Eco System.
The property is set on a leased land 4 kilometers from a Village just outside the borders of Serengeti National Park and has a total footprint of 10 acres. The highlight of the property is that the annual migration of zebras and wildebeests passes through the camp. They head north between June and August and again back south from November to January.
The Camp comprises of 13 canvas tents, double and triple basis with 5m x 7m on low-level concrete plinths, laid out in line roughly on a north/south axis. They each have an open-air Bathroom comprising of a Shower, Flush Toilet, and Basin. The walls and floor built with natural local stone. Each tent has its own conventional septic tank and soaks away. There are 7 solar water heaters – 2 tents to a heater, and one tent has its own heater. All tents are connected to the camp's electrical system with individual lamp Circuit Breakers.
The manager’s house features 5 bedrooms and a front veranda. It has its own septic tank and solar water heater. The building contains a large store and a smaller maintenance store. Staff tents include 3 tents which have 12 bedrooms and a laundry hut.
Main House includes administration office, lounge, restaurant, kitchen, and bar. The main kitchen has screened vegetables and Dry Goods storage. The kitchen’s wastewater passes through a grease trap before going into a septic tank and soaks away.
Cooking is done on LPG stoves. Electricity is generated by a solar panel and stored in deep-cycle batteries. A small generator is used when the camp is full, or the weather is cloudy. Water is sourced from the nearby Village Borehole and piped to camp. Two semi-underground water storage tanks plus two header tanks of 2000lt – one for staff, one for clients.
